GameOPS P.O.I.: Aaron Gallego Gipit

Have you been to our local underground music scene lately? If you haven't, you should go to a local gig near your place, once in a while. You are bound to meet a lot of interesting people with a really wide range of interests, talents, and topics to talk about. One of such people we happened to meet is our current GameOPS P.O.I., Aaron Gallego Gipit.

Aaron is the vocalist of several underground bands, two of which are melodic death metal bands called Cast the Stone and Sapsorrow. He also sings for a J-rock/Cosplay/VK band called Myo'Hako (Strange Box). He also loves Hyde and L'Arc~en~Ciel and J-rock in general. But did you know? He's also a gamer. In fact, he is very close to his friends he met in amusement centers and meets up and spends time with them often.

Here's a little peek of Aeron's colorful life as a musician and a gamer!

Could you tell us something about yourself?

Hi my name is Aaron Gallego Gipit. And I'm a graduate of Computer and Electronics Program at STI Sta Rosa. I do a lot of crafts like being a vocalist for my bands and a songwriter, a frustrated sketch artist and a trying hard chef. Haha.

Where are you located and what are you currently engaged in?

I lived here at Binan, Laguna. For now I'm seeking for a new job.

When was the first time you actually played a video game?

It started in 1995 when I was at Grade 3.

What's the name of the game and game system?

Comix Zone. And the console for that was Sega Megadrive. It is awesome! Imagine your enemies are made of a drawings. Haha.

What or who made you play?

I was introduced to video games because of "kuya Mike" my older cousin from my mother-side. That time, he just came back from Japan because of work.

Do you own a video game console? If yes, what system? Was it your very fist console? What video game platform do you prefer?

Yes, PS2 and Dreamcast. Sega Megadrive is my first console given by kuya Mike. I prefer  PC, Consoles or PSP/Nintendo DS. It depends on the situation.

What is your favorite video game? Why?

Sleeping Dogs (PS3). Because I can combine a lot of martial arts during the fight and it has the spice of Grand Theft Auto and has a nice story line.

How about a particular video game character, who's your favorite?

Kyo Kusanagi of King of Fighters.

Why?

Because King of Fighters 94 was the first fighting video game I played as a kid.

Do you play online games? What are your current and all-time favorites? Are you part of a clan or guild? If yes, can you give us some info about your guild?

Seriously I'm not into online games. Sorry but there's a lot of PC games I prefer to play with. For example, Fallout 3, Darksouls 1, Hotel 626 (sometimes) and Deadpool.

If you were to convince a friend or co-worker to play video games, how would you do it? Would you do crazy stuff just to convince him or her?

I think the easiest way to convince a friend/co-worker to play a video game is to teach him/her how to play the game from the basic and tel him/her that the game is very interesting.

Did playing video games make any difference in your life?

Absolutely yes! At first I was just a "normie" - just playing alone at the amusement center until someone challenged me to a battle with versus mode playing a fighting game. I've made a lot of friends like that. Haha. And by playing Drumania and Guitar Freaks - I've made a lot of friends with that also. At least twice a week, we set a date to have casual playing with Street Fighter 5 and latest King of Fighters on a PS4 console using arcade sticks (Madcatz Limited Daigo Tourney Edition and the usual hori stick).

Do you have any personal video game related story that you can share with us?

Pepsi Man. Hahaha. That's one hell of a game. Hahaha. And Catherine, a not so easy game.

Have you ever bought (or played) a pirated copy of a video game?

Hahaha. Yeah, I'm laughing hard with that title of the game (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is the title of that game.) Just like a hack version of my favorite video game KOF 2001, but it is completely insane. Hahaha.

What or who got you started in playing music?

My childhood friends. Back when I was in Grade 6, we were cutting classes every Friday. We roam every establishments just to enjoy ourselves with something different to do. Then we found a new hide out with a lot of schoolmate girls. It's a karaoke house. Then at night, I'd standby at the house of my childhood friend Dennis to play classic acoustic songs such as Honestly by Harem Scarem. At the same time, he thought me how to play a guitar. Then I played as a band vocalist in his own band. We were playing some 90's alternative songs. And then, the genre evolved and we met new bands and friends until we were introduced to show bands and J-rock/cosplay community. And finally, last but not the least, underground.

Did you learn it from someone or were your self-taught?

Every talent that I have is all self-taught (except for the guitar playing), because I'd like to be alone most of the time and try to discover every part of my limitations.

What other musical instruments can you play?

Bass, basic drum patterns, ukulele, guitar.

Who are your music influences?

Il Nomine Patris, Stu Bloc, Ice Earth, Earth, Wind and Fire, Queen, Galneryus, Hayato Kaori, Gust, Tanya Markova, at the Gates, Warbringer, Tool, Mushroom Head, Pantera, Dream Theater, Wagakki, L'arc~en~Ciel, Vamps, Deluhi, Siamshade, Inflames, Death, The Black Dahlia Murder, etc.

How old are you? Are you still single? What kind of girls are you interested in?

I'm already 31 right now. Yes, I am single. Anyone who can jive on my crafts and cope with the ups and down scenarios of my life and hopefully, cute and petite. Haha.

If a genie gives you 3 wishes (no wishing for more wishes, lol), what would they be, and why?

First, to have my own recording studio with complete instruments and mixing devices. Second, to have my own home entertainment room with a cabinet of consoles and lots of games to choose from. And lastly to have a stable job with great pay. Haha.

Any last message you wish to impart to our readers?

Live your life to the fullest, try to discover what you can do, and always put your feet on the ground with a smile on the face around you.
